The 2343777 Thread Freezer, also known as Loctite LB 8040 Freeze & Release, is a fast-acting penetrating lubricant engineered to release corroded, rusted, or seized metal parts. When sprayed, this aerosol causes rapid cooling — down to approximately –43 °C — which induces microscopic fractures in rust. These cracks allow the mineral oil–based lubricant to wick into the seams via capillary action, breaking the bond without damaging the threads. Once freed, the components remain protected by a thin film of lubricant to prevent future corrosion.
